Being a senior in a credible college I tend to wonder what I am going to do with my life when I graduate. I talk to several of my friends and hear these stories of how well they are doing and how they are making good money, yet they didn't go to school. I grab the newspaper everyday and read articles how the job market is not looking good for recent grads, and how we can look foreword to making a super salary of around the mid 30's. That's just wonderful considering I could have made that by not gathering this large debt that I have accumulated in my four years in utopia.
I could have graduated high school, got started with an organization, and worked my way up. Is college just a business, flaunting their excellent attributes like a gorgeous woman, or are they really out there to educate us and help us through life? I tend to wonder if I fell into just another scam, except this scam was far from a get rich quick scam with a minimal investment, rather this scam has made me invest massive amounts of money, and has allowed me to be brain washed into thinking I am smarter and more prepared to take on the real world.
Statistics show that the biggest entrepreneurs and most successful rich people do not have anything more than a high school diploma. For example the gentlemen who started McDonalds, dropped out of high school. We all know where that story ends up, just drive down to the corner; gee I wonder how well off that family is now. For those in college I am not trying to change your minds, college has taught me a lot. I just feel that all of the hype and push towards higher education is a lot less important than this “Monet” that it is portrayed to be.
