Good day everyone. My name is Bryan Mildort. I attend at the very best school, G.K.E Sabal Palm Elementary School. At my school we are thankful and lucky to have the D.A.R.E program. I think the D.A.R.E program is a creative and educational way to teach children to say no to drugs. I think this because if I didn't attend the D.A.R.E program, I would have maybe been accepting the offer of smoking a cigarette. But now, I don't have to even think about it. My automatic answer is “no.” We are fortunate at G.K.E Sabal Palm Elementary School to have a fantastic program that helps kids prepare for the future.
In the D.A.R.E program our D.A.R.E officer, Officer Gonzalez, has taught us many techniques to stay drug free. For example: I only thought drugs like tobacco and marijuana only get you high and has no side effects. But drugs have many affects to your body. Mostly all drugs contain nicotine. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's the substances in drugs that actually make you addictive to it. No wonder people can't get enough of cigarettes! Some more facts are that drugs can cause loss of coordination, slowed reflexes, loss of self-control, poor judgment, memory lapses, slurred speech, loss of breath, short-term memory; I could go on for pages and pages if I had the time. But cigarettes, marijuana and tobacco aren't the only drugs D.A.R.E teaches you about. Alcohol is a drug too. Beer is the main source of alcohol. Rum is not the main source, but still has a huge amount of alcohol and can do the same lethal side effects to your body. Alcohol can increase your risk of a variety of diseases like damage every organ of your body. I got to say many people think its cool, but they'll die so quick they won't even have time to finish the beer bottle! You can do whatever you want because it's your choice. I can't force you but you can force yourself. Do you want to sink low, or just say “no?!”
In conclusion, and without a moment to spare, I think it is more important to stay drug free and have the D.A.R.E program to your school because drugs ruin your life. Drugs can lead to violence, which can lead to death, which can lead to sadness. So if you avoid drugs, you'll avoid violence which means you'll have a peaceful life. Just remember to say “no” to drugs and to stay drug free!
