Ladies and gentlemen, today I feel it is important to discuss education and whether or not it facilitates success. Personally, I believe that education does help to bring success but there are times when an education is not highly favoured.
Education is the knowledge and development as a result of being taught and success is the attainment of one's fame, wealth or eminence. Success can further be defined as a favorable outcome or result. As children, we are told to study hard so that we may achieve success later on in life. A lot of jobs do require one to have a high level of education and the type of job determines the level of education one must have. We all may agree that not everything is taught in the classroom but there are certain skills that cannot be found elsewhere, such as knowledge relating to specific career fields. To be a veterinarian, for instance, a person must learn about the major details pertaining to the medicine and technology involved in that field.
Not only does education facilitate success in the world of work, but on a personal level, an education develops one's mind, character and way of thinking. Bertrand A. Russell [An English philosopher, mathematician and writer] once said :” Education is one of the chief obstacles to intelligence and freedom of thought.” An education can help with the everyday issues in life and simply brings awareness of what is going on around us. Education also impacts the way we express ourselves.
Our conversations reflect our level of education. Without an education, the conversations we have would be uninteresting. Friends, one of my least favourite subjects in school is history. I always complain and argue the importance of doing this subject. Why do I need it? Well, this question can be answered by saying that you have to know where you are coming from to know where you are going, or the question can be answered simply by saying that some of the things we learn in the history class or any other class will help up us to have good conversations further on. A good conversation may be defined as one with substance but people may have different ideas of what a conversation should be.
In some aspects of life, education is not what helps to bring about success. If we take a look at various actors, singers and models, the saying: Education facilitates success, will not necessarily apply here. The achievements of these stars, was most likely, not facilitated by education. Tyra Lynne Banks, for instance, is a retired American model, television personality, talk show host, actress and business person. She graduated from high school and began modeling in the eleventh grade. Tyra is an immensely successful, African-American woman and is ranked among one of the world's most influential people. She has basically visited all sides of the business, with little help from her secondary level of education.
My friends, education facilitates success in most cases. Your level of education plays a great role in your life and future, so encourage your children and other children to stay in school and work hard.
