What do children need today? Children are in desperate need of positive role models.
The children of today do not have a positive influence. There is too much negative imagery being directed at them. They are not seeing the positive things going on around them. For example, there are students who are doing wonderful things such as earning scholarships and volunteering to help the elderly. There are students who are not becoming involved in drugs, or alcohol. These students are surrounded by negative influence yet they manage to succeed.
Unfortunately, these students are not acknowledged. The children of today hear about the rock star who has so much material things that he bought with all of his millions of dollars. They hear about the athlete who again made millions. They become obsessed with making money and buying material things.
I am a frustrated educator who wants to see some changes. I want to see some students who have done and are doing great things to be acknowledged. There is not enough encouragement for these students and the cycle continues.
