Kids Should Learn About Entrepreneurship to Foster Future Success

This kind of program creates interpersonal skills, sparks ingenuity, provide leadership skills, and planning strategies. Therefore, it can enhance skills that employers and colleges look for in applicants. Competing in global economy makes every skill obtained important and marketable.

In an article “Meet the Whiz Kids: 10 Overachievers Under 21” it featured some of brightest that created jobs for themselves and others. As this economy heads into the direction of a recession, it is vital to teach kids in school about business opportunities. Also, teaching entrepreneurship will focus on subjects like math and English to show why they are important. Therefore, when it is their turn to operate the country, they will be better capable of dealing with the economy. Additionally, their personal development will improve and allow for a decrease in unemployment rates and crime. Basically, offering an opportunity for kids to learn to fish for themselves. This will lessen financial pressure on parents as well. Providing basic lessons and ideas will enable parents along with kids to establish positive relationships that will last for a lifetime. Perhaps, the parents will become involved with the company, and it becomes a great change for the family. Some ideas that kids come up with are simple and can be replicated to create a great income.

As a society, we are already aware a business is the foundation of any country's success. After all, it creates jobs that people need to support families. However, due to the amount of outsourcing and rising costs, it seems impossible to survive comfortably with less than a six figure income for a family of four. Therefore, workshops should be available for kids to take part in by the 4th grade and up to enable their creativity to become part of the economy. For instance, kids that are great artists could sell their artwork to save for college. There is nothing wrong with teaching some marketing skills that kids can use for almost any field they choose. Who knows maybe that kid could start a gallery of youth art? More schools should implement a curriculum that includes at least one day dedicated to professional enhancement in entrepreneurship. A guest speaker could share their entrepreneurial experience and provide some tips with ideas for kids to try.

The whiz kids in the article did not receive special training, but they had the drive to fulfill a need that benefits many. This kind of program creates interpersonal skills, sparks ingenuity, provide leadership skills, and planning strategies. Therefore, it can enhance skills that employers and colleges look for in applicants. Competing in global economy makes every skill obtained important and marketable. The key is having the ability to know when and how to make these attributes shine without a resume only.

As a high school business workshop scholarship attendee, I found the experience to be significant in later success. I challenge everyone with kids to ask school administrators about implementing mini business workshops for students to take part in. I do believe that it should be voluntary because some people are not comfortable with starting out on their own. So, the parents would pay for them, like summer camp experiences. The payment will pay off and enrich their development.

In summation, creating opportunities at the local YMCA and other community programs are great places to start. Once, kids learn how to begin their own companies they will enhance the community around them. This is a win-win for everyone when entrepreneurship is brought into the lives of young people especially.
