Office Referrals

Go to the office if you need any help or if you have any problems, according to the school staff. The counselors will help you solve your problem. Or will they? Students don't want to get sent there. They are usually sent there for causing trouble. But to keep the school well maintained, the office can't be a friendly place where they sit you down and give you milk and cookies. No; students receive office referrals and are given punishments by the administrators if they are causing any trouble in classes.

The act of giving an office referral signifies that you're a troublemaker. An office referral will help prevent future trouble with the student in question. Referrals are usually accompanied with a call home to the student's parents and students hate having their parents get involved, so they will try to keep out of trouble. In addition, they dislike having to be sent to the office in general because it could possibly mean that they are a terrible student. No one likes that feeling. After a number of visits to the office, the student will probably receive a “U” in citizenship.

Once the student is n the hands of an administrator, the administrator should give a severe punishment. Some examples of severe punishments include no reward day and dance privileges. If a severe punishment is given, then the student will try harder in class to prevent future visits to the office. With the sever punishment, they would know that they are at the verge of receiving a “U” in citizenship, which could lead to even more consequences. This will tell the students that the office is a place to stay away from. They don't give milk and cookies.

Furthermore, to encourage better behavior in the school, the administrators could give students rewards and such. Some examples of rewards include a lunch or brunch line pass. If rewards are given, students will try harder to earn these special rights and rewards. It would also encourage the students to try not to receive a referral. Rewards could also convince the students from creating any trouble in classes.

The office isn't as friendly as they say. Students try to keep away as much as possible. One way of staying away from the office is to not receive a referral, and to do that, one must not cause a disruption in class or cause any kind of trouble.
