Kids want to learn. Kids learn better if they like the person teaching them. Teachers need to make sure they even like kids before they chose this profession. Teaching our kids is the most important job there is. We have to many teachers out there that let their likes and dislikes known. Teacher's have favorite student's and most of us call them teacher's pet's. Does anyone out there think the kids feel neglected when they see another kid being treated better then them. Why have we not done away with the teacher's pet. It is not a title that is given out but it is an understanding.The understanding that everyone knows or sees the favoritism.
Ask any student who is their teachers pet and I promise they can come up with a name. That is messed up in my book. Teacher's are allowed to send a kid to the office for behavior problems. Kids need to be able to do the same to the teacher. Favoritism in my opinion is a behavior problem. There are Kids who's parent's are active in the school and what they get in return is favoritism for their kid. Teaching and learning should not be allowed to be bought. What is it called when you do a favor and you get a favor in return.
There are good parent's out there that do not have money or the time to be buying attention for their kids. This world needs fixing and we need to start by fixing all aspects of our children's lives and school is where they are for the next eighteen or so years. Let's start there.
