Surviving college can be difficult, especially if you're just starting out. However, with discipline and determination, it can be done. Here are some tips to help:
- Budget your time well: Make sure you set aside certain hours each day for studying and completing assignments. This could be, for example, three hours every morning Monday through Friday. Get a weekly planner and write in those hours if needed to remember and make a commitment to study.
- Attend all classes as scheduled: Missing classes can lead to failing grades and the sudden frustration of falling behind and wanting to give up.
- Make time for things you enjoy: Doing activities you enjoy can help keep you motivated to do the things that don't seem like much fun.
- Surround yourself with other people who want to succeed in life: Spending time with people who like to party all day and do drugs may seem like fun, but it can negatively affect your life and your grades.
- Don't be afraid to ask for help: If you're having personal problems; seek advice from a trusted friend, family member or a counselor. If it's academic trouble, get help from a tutor. There's no shame in needing help. Everybody needs help sometimes!
- Take complete and accurate notes: This helps when it comes to exam and test time.
- Stay organized: Finding your papers and supplies is very important. If you can't find them, how are you going to use them? Labeling folders and notebooks may help.
Hopefully these tips will help you succeed in college and maintain good grades.
Good Luck!
