Why High School Graduates Should Consider College

High school graduates shouldn't ever give up their dream of going to college.

Many high school graduates won't even consider a college education. This group of high school graduates goes straight into the work force without giving college little to no thought. The worst part about this is, this group of high school graduates will work minimum wage jobs they will soon find they hate. They will also not be living the life they thought they would after they graduated high school.

While the chances are slim to none these high school graduates will live the lives they dreamed of, they will also have trouble finding their dream job. Having more than a high school diploma can help these graduates get their dream job with higher pay and live the lifestyle they want.

The education students get at a college far exceeds the tuition. Not only will they earn a degree in a field they love, they will learn valuable social skills that go beyond high school. These same social skills students learn at college can help with their careers and in their personal lives.

While college isn't the only way to farther a high school graduate's education, a technical school can aid them in getting a job in their favorite field. Many community colleges have a technical school as well. Not only can they earn a technical style degree at a community college, that degree will also can be transferred for farther their education in a traditional college classroom. Many technical classes are a two-year education.

Also, there are some, although there are very few, two-year college degrees. This will all depend on the job into which you are looking. For instance, at Cowley County Community College, they have a cosmetology degree that you can obtain either in one or two years. The length of the degree will depend on if you choose to learn the business side of cosmetology. Otherwise, you can learn to be a hairdresser in a year.

So before any high school graduates decide any form of college isn't for you, search some local colleges or technical schools in your area. You may be surprised at the scheduling, costs, and ways to pay for a college education isn't as out of your reach as you may think.

Not only can a high school graduate get student loans, there are also grants and scholarships available. When searching for student loans, grants, and scholarships, start with the degree, you are seeking financial aide. Also, there are sports scholarships, first time family members going to college aide, local scholarships, and various other ways to finance your college degree.
