Perspective on Indian and Whites

Demonstrates the perspective between Native Americans and the white settlers.

Perspective is the faculty of seeing all of the relevant data of a meaningful relationship. There can be many different perspectives for looking at something. A few topics that show how people can have different perspectives include war, Cherokee Indians and white settlers, and the 2004 U.S. presidential candidates.

First off, there are many perspectives on the topic of war. Some people believe that war is morally wrong. Others think that there should be war in some cases. While some people think that there is no winner in war because both sides' troops would get killed, others think that there are winners and losers because one side will surrender, retreat, or get destroyed. Many people believe that war is wrong because it destroys human life. Other people think it is good because it brings out the best in everyone and unites them by patriotism. So war really has many different perspectives.

Secondly, there were many differences in perspective between Cherokee Indians and the white settlers. The Cherokees thought that they only needed enough gold to buy important things for their families. The settlers wanted all the gold they could get so they could become rich. From the Cherokee perspective land was important so they could grow crops and animals on it. The white perspective was that land was important only if it had gold on it. The Cherokees thought that family was the most valuable thing they had. The white settlers did not place such a high value on family. Cherokees thought that their home was important because that was where they lived most of their lives. The whites didn't think their home was as important as the Cherokee Indians thought it was. The whites placed more value on gaining wealth. Therefore there were many differences in perspective between the Cherokees and the whites.

Finally, there are many perspectives on the 2004 presidential candidates. People might think Bush should not have gone to war in Iraq. Others think he did the right thing to go to war. Some people think that Kerry can't ever make up his mind. Some people think that Bush says stupid things. People might think that since Kerry got three purple hearts he would make a good leader. Some people think that Bush is a cheater. All these different perspectives influence the way people see the candidates and might convince them to vote for one candidate or the other.

Perspective is the faculty of seeing all of the relevant data of a meaningful relationship. There are often many different perspectives for looking at one topic. War, Cherokee Indians and white settlers, and the presidential candidates are examples of topics with different perspectives to them. They show that the perspective a people take may influence the way they act.
