Racism is a form of discrimination to another ethnicity, race, gender, or group of people. We tend to not realize the power of words as we verbally slur another person. Everyone has feelings and would like to be respected the same way you would.
I am not saying that you are already a racist person but to inform you the harms it can bring to other people. You may not know it but people usually don't take racism lightly. It is a cruel way to make someone upset or angry.
A stereotype is a generalization of one or many groups of people. It can be bad or good but it does not reflect everyone. Some stereotypes are like Jews being cheap, Asians being smart and weird, and white people being fat and stupid. NO! Not all the people of a particular group pertain to certain qualities or characteristics.
Reasons not to use racism:
- Suicide + Depression. If a person is discriminated enough, the person might feel life is not worth it and decides to kill him or herself.
- Creating stereotypes. Racism leads to stereotyping a group of people due to the opinion of a person on someone else.
- Violence. Many people tend to get angry if they are insulted and tend to believe violence is the key to their problems.
In the end, stereotyping and racism is bad as they can lead to a lot more problems. And, if you are the type of person who is racist, think about how you would feel if you were being targeted for racism.
