If you are thinking of giving flowers for Valentine's Day, you can't beat roses for something special. However, your floral gift may not say quite what you mean it to if you don't know the meanings of the different kinds of roses.
Red
Red roses mean "true love" and most of us know that, but they may also mean "congratulations", "courage", or "respect".

Century Sunset, Chelsea Pensioner, Chorus, Darling Flame, Fiona, My Dad, my Mum, Piccolo and Rascal are all varieties of red rose.
The kind of rose that has no thorns means "love at first sight."

Charles De Mills, James Galway and John Clare are all thornless varieties.
Pink
Carmine roses (a shade of pink) represent "deceitful desire", so perhaps you would want to give these a miss.

This is the Zinnia Pink Carmine Rose.
Yellow
Yellow roses signify friendship. It also means "joy and freedom".

Bright yellow roses show gladness, joy and hope. They are an excellent reminder for husband or wife!
