Finding the Lost City

(contd.)

Back to the theory. When the colonies of Bermuda and Bimini were destroyed, the Atlantean civilization was no more. We have only found those handfuls of relics that indicate someone was there.

But what of the device?

It survived the storm. More importantly, the Atlanteans never turned it off. It was likely powered by some form of either sea energy - the currents - or solar energy. Today, it lies beneath the Bermuda Triangle. When it light or current hits it properly, it generates the power it needs to turn itself back on, causing the strange effects once again. Its electromagnetic power wreaks havoc with compasses and other electronics, completely crippling them with no warning, which is why no one ever gets off a cry for help. It calls down storms, churns the sea, and causes strange lights to appear - all side effects of an electromagnet, all reported in the Bermuda Triangle. Ships and planes don't vanish, per say; their compasses spin, sending them wildly off course; the churning sea swallows them up without warning; or the strange gravitational effects crush them or yank them to the bottom like rocks.

But the device is not always on anymore. Therefore, the occurrences are rare. And more importantly, the effect of the device on the tides around Bimini are far less than they once were, causing the sea level to drop and the ruins of the lost Atlantean colony to rise once more.

After the destruction of Atlantis, the dominant power in the Atlantic was gone. The economies of the nations that traded with Atlantis would have become dependent on them; when Atlantis was destroyed, markets across the sea would have become inaccessible; the great resources for the over-ambitious Atlantean projects would no longer be required; economies would crumble all over the world. This would also give Greece the opportunity it had been waiting for. With Atlantis out of the way, there would be no one capable of opposing them in Europe. Even decades or centuries later, the cultures that had been so dependant on Atlantis would be weak, paving the way for Greece, Rome, and Carthage to dominate Western Europe for decades to come.

We'll never find Atlantis. The storm that they inadvertently called down would have destroyed their island so thoroughly that it will make Sodom and Gomorra easy to find by comparison. We'll never find traces of the device on Easter Island; the Atlanteans would have been thorough when they left. The Spanish ensured that we will never find out from the native South Americans or any Atlanteans that lived on the mainland of South America and may have survived the disaster. The only places we could uncover this mystery's answers are under the Sphinx and pyramids, where we are not allowed to go; or, in the Caribbean Sea, the exact place where, it appears, the last relics of the greatest civilization ever to live on the Earth are rising again.

Think I'm lying? Think I'm full of crap? So sure I can't possible be right? Think on it for a while. Do your own research. See if I have my facts straight, I encourage you. And after you do, just try and tell me truthfully that Atlantis never existed. I think you'll find it hard to do.
