The Loch Ness monster has been a mystery told for years. It has been reviewed by scientists and others alike. However, it still remains a mystery. Many people have said to have seen the creature some call, “Nessie”. Some pictures are available now that seem to show this creature. There are some that believe and some that do not. In this article I will show some of the stories, some evidence, and then in the end, you can decide for yourself.
Lake Loch Ness
Loch Ness is a huge lake in Scotland. So do not think it is a little one so nothing could live in it. In fact, there is more water in Loch Ness than in all the lakes of England, Scotland, and Whales put together. The depth of the lake can reach up to 754 feet. Another fact said, is that the lake does not freeze. So as you can see it is a very big lake that may be able to inhabit a big species.
Reported Sightings
The Loch Ness monster phrase was said to come sometime in the 1930's, as a myth to try and keep some children from going close to the lake and getting hurt. However some of the first recorded sightings date back to 565.
- A report that seemed to really start it off happened in 1933. Mr. and Mrs. Mackay were driving along when Mrs. Mackay supposedly saw a disturbance in the lake. Supposedly two humps were seen then it swam back into the water.
- In 1960 Torquil Macleod reported seeing a grey/black mass with an elephant like trunk
- In December 1933, Mrs. Reid reporting seeing something resting on shore. It had a hairy body and a large round head.
- In July 1933, George Spicer claimed to have seen a large creature crossing a road. It was said to have a thick body with a long neck. It then slid into the Loch.

Hoax
Although some people say there is plenty of evidence, many others say it is completely a hoax. Some evidence has been proven to simply be a hoax by the one who reported it, or another object that was mistakenly reported as the Loch Ness monster. Some people have placed things in the Loch or other bodies of water to make it look like the monster, or even edit some pictures.. Others have seen objects already in the water that were hard to decipher in the photograph, due to its black and white quality.
Some Suspected Hoax Images

Fig 2.2- Image Source. This has been said to be one of the most clear photos ever took of “the monster”, that has not been truly proved fake. However some people find it strange that there are no ripples in the water where the neck is. So this is not fully proved to be a hoax.
