Hercules, Son of the God Zeus, and mortal Alcmena, was not only a hero but also an excellent role model. In the television series, Hercules Legendary Journeys, Hercules traveled around, helping people. There are many stories about Hercules in Greek Mythology. Hercules taught man to have confidence in himself and that they do not need the Gods blessing to be what they desire. All they had to do was to keep trying.
Hera despised Hercules because Zeus had cheated on her with Alcmena, and bore him a son. Zeus looked upon Hercules more lovingly than Hera's children.
Hercules was half God, half man, he choose to honor the half that was man. This was because his father Zeus never really paid any attention to him, and because his mother was mortal. Because Hercules was half God, he possessed a great strength. He looked upon man as his brother.
Hercules traveled, often with Iolaus, helping people whether they were moving bags of grain, or helping the people with other problems that arise. He stood up for injustices. He did anything he could do to help man while the Gods looked at man as slaves. Hercules did not need slaves as the other Gods did. He believes man could do a lot more than the Gods gave them credit. That was why he had the courage to stand up for man.
