Iolaus isHercules' best friend, sidekick and role model, as you remember from Hercules Legendary Journeys. He travels with Hercules and fights by Hercules side. He may not have the strength that Hercules has, but he definitely has the heart. Iolaus helped Hercules in his labors.
Iolaus is from Thebes and his father is Iphicles. Like Hercules, Iolaus is also mentioned in Greek Mythology. He grew up with Hercules.
Iolaus often stood in Hercules' shadow because the people would always look at Hercules as the hero and man who saved the day, but man a time this could not have been done without the assistance of Iolaus because they worked as a team. He was in many ways, as Gabrielle was to Xena. Iolaus is a hero. He stood up for what he believed in and was willing to fight for it. That takes a lot of courage. He died in battle.
