Let us go into this one step further and discuss how recently an eighth grader was killed for the fact that he was a homosexual. A 15-yearold child's life was taken from him all because of his sexual preference. What is this world coming to? So now we have the President writing discrimination in the constitution and religious fanatics who go on about how homosexuality is such a sin. Only it is all right to allow the government and religion to control our lives. Ummm… I thought one of the reasons that we love being Americans is because America follows the belief that all our created equal. Possibly if the world was not making such a big issue over homosexuality and the issue of gay marriage this would have never happened because there would have been no reason to feel the young boy was different from all others. Slavery was abolished because it was wrong and discrimination against black Americans was a large issue at one time.
Only ones that committed this discrimination were punished for their actions. Certainly the killer of this child will and should be punished, yet it is the world that cause this to happen because of there issues regarding homosexuality. There are all forms of jokes going around regarding homosexuals and one that stands out is God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. Is this type of joke necessary? Most people are fully aware of the theory on our creation, and it has not been questioned other than those that believe in the theory of evolution. God created all humankind equal and that does not include only heterosexuals but homosexuals, as well. Yes, believe it or not even God created homosexuals.
Earlier the fact that our economy is suffering was mentioned and how it is nearing a recession. Let us look at how legalizing gay marriage could benefit today's economy. Allowing same-sex couples to marry would boost federal taxes by $400 to $700 million because this would no longer allow them to claim single and boost them into a higher tax bracket. In addition, these individuals would be cut from state funder programs like Medicaid which would save $50 to $200 million. Quite a few of these homosexuals that are currently uninsured and the government are presently paying for would join their spouses' insurances plans and which would lower federal costs by $190 million. If half of the same-sex couples married and were legally allowed to this would cause a wedding industry boom that could profit about $2 billion.
These projections were studied by the Congressional Budget Office, Williams Institute. This would definitely be a boost in our economy instead of the stimulus package that President Bush recently signed for, and this would not be something that would go against us as income. So legalizing gay marriage could give the economy by about $3 billion; only the majority is more concerned about it being a moral issue. We are nearing an election for the President of the United States and the commercials are being aired over the television regarding each candidate's views. Most of these commercial are mentioning lower taxes and healthcare benefits for all. Well, one way to do this could be legalizing gay marriage. It is obvious that America would be beneficial to do so?
What is one thing that normally goes along with marriage? Children, that is one thing that makes a family complete. Only some may wonder how this is possible with two people of the same sex. Everyone is well aware of the advances in technology today. We have artificial insemination, sperm banks and a turkey baster. (Yes this is an added bit of humor) There are cases where a woman will choose that she no longer desires to be with a man, and this will be after she has had children. So, this woman becomes involved with a woman and the children become emotionally attached to this other woman yet because of the law she has no rights to these children if something were to happen to the mother or if the two would have a break-up and does not seem fair to the children or the other woman. There have been occasions that a mother has lost her children because it was proved in court that she was a lesbian, and the courts felt she was unfit for this reason. So now because a mother is a lesbian she can not take care of her children.
Adopting or fostering children in the homosexuality community. There are three states that have completely banned gays from adopting or fostering children. Florida has banned homosexuals from adopting but allows them to foster children. Yes, this one makes sense. There are 11 states and Washington D. C., that state gays and lesbians can not be stopped from adopting, for that reason. So for the remaining states it is the decision of judges and/ or adoption agencies. Only they have found ways to get around all this by stating in some states where a child can not be adopted unless married and well since same-sex marriage is not allowed; we have our answer to that one. Would a child not be better off with a same-sex couple instead of a single gay parent; either way the child is being raised by someone who is gay. So, we can give children a home by legalizing gay marriages which will allow them to be able to adopt in these states that marriage is a requirement for adoption. Should we not consider the children in all this? Save one less child from being raised in foster care and from going from home to home; not knowing what it is like to be in a loving home. Are we that concerned about the religious aspect of all this that we will allow an innocent child to suffer? Furthermore, was it not discussed earlier about whom is to say what is religiously correct or incorrect?
In all the information provided do we not see how legalizing gay marriage can benefit society? The savings from taxes would be awesome, the decrease in state funding for healthcare cost would be enormous and there is a good chance we would be able to fund a war that was not necessary in the first place yet now has to be finished. Legalizing gay marriage could give innocent children a home and a chance to have a life. Could legalizing gay marriage end the discrimination against homosexuals? Most likely not right away but in time it would be accepted and would not be looked at as different. Society is afraid of different, and that is why they strike out at it. If homosexuality was not made to look different, there would be no need to fear it. Remember, America the Free.
