Tyler's pathway or cycle was a fake theory put into the mouth of the late Prof. Alexander Fraser Tytler (1747-1813) by some educated American conman to convince American voters that Al Gore deserved to be defeated.
"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voter's discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the treasury. From that moment on, the majority will always vote for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy and is always followed by a dictatorship."
But the conman, who coined the fake quotation and gave his own propagandist review, had enough brain to realize that anybody who read the original Alexander Fraser Tytler would have detected the difference in the diction and style. So he conveniently changed the name to an imaginary Alexander Tyler.
Supporters of George Bush tried every trickery in statistics to authenticate and support Tyler's theory implying that Al Gore and his "welfare-eating supporters" would have taken over America had not Bush come and rescued us from the demoniacal Al Gore.
But I am not sure whether the same Prof. Tyler said the price of such rescue was the broad daylight illegal murder of 3000+ fellow Americans on 9/11 and the continuing legalized murder of 4000+ fellow Americans. Not to speak of the billion-dollar largesse stolen from Fort Knox to enrich themselves under the pretext of teaching Bedouins decency.
And Al Gore is having the last laugh. He is travelling the whole world, hobnobbing with world leaders and helping their legislatures to frame and add environmental laws to their national constitutions.
Now the fake quotation proved to be prophetic - each of its words exposes and incriminates the same Bush, it was supposed to protect. Now the conman author as well as his hero is entirely at the mercy of McCain.
And fortunately for Americans, if McCain decides to be utterly patriotic and retrace from the Tyler's pathway by putting everything straight, then that means trouble for them, including the guys who are moving to Dubai to ward off future reprisals from American people.
As for Dubai, UAE is next-door to Doha, the seat of Al Jazeera TV headquarters where Osama Bin Laden's boys can coolly walk in, in broad daylight with utter freedom and hand over videos exhorting his followers to behead Americans.
So when some Americans who are in the hit-list of Al Qaida fearlessly move their homes to Dubai, to be neighbors of Al Jazeera, shall we laugh or cry?
May be we will have wait to hear what the ghost of an imaginary Alexander Tyler wrote about that.
