The rain fall of Egypt is very low even the wettest part of Egypt only receives 200milimetres of rain per year. In Alexandria it is very humid but the sea breezes keeps the air moisture down to a comfortable level. Cairo receives only about a centimeter of rain per year, but in summer at Cairo the humidity goes to 77 percent. In the south of Cairo only a trace of rainfall falls per year. Some parts will have no rain for years but then a day will come when there are floods of rain.

The strange thing is in Egypt is that hot spring winds blow all throughout Africa, Europeans called these winds sirocco, but the Egyptian called it the kasmsin. The winds come usually around in April, and less likely they occur in March and May. The winds also sweep across the northern coast of Africa. The winds get powerful and carry a lot of sand and dust while crossing deserts. The wind strengths can reach up to 140kilomerters an hour; this is now a Hugh sandstorm. The sandstorm can also increase temperatures as much as 20 degrees in two hours. The winds last for days very powerfully, the winds cause illness to some people, hurt animals and damage precious crops and may even damage houses

Important people and what they do?

A Scribe is a very important person, a scribe is the only person who knows how to read or write, there job was very Important because they recorded legal business and documents for the government. They started written language because they wanted to start recording information, lots of parents send there children to scribal school were they learned to read and write. This would help the kids in the further when they become scribes they will be able to enter the government and royal services and they will become rich and powerful.

Nobleman worked for the Pharaoh and worked in the government. Unskilled labors or soldiers had farms form a job, to earn money. There services are very important to grow crops and food. When the floods came in farmers worked for government projects such as Pyramids. The Vizier was the assistant Pharaoh, because the Pharaoh could only be in one place at a time. The Vizier was the second most important person in ancient Egypt. The first ever viziers were princes. The vizier also was the leader of scribes. Documents were found in Egypt about what was expected from viziers. Each of all divided parts of Egypt had a governor, Egyptians called them nomarch. Nomarches aimed to there administration effective. Some nomarches acted by them selves to make decisions without consulting it. These types of nomarches are very independent.

The Pharaoh was very important to the society of ancient Egypt; he was known to be a son of a go called Horus. The Pharaoh's responsibility was for all aspects of national life. The Pharaoh was known to make the Nile flow and flood, over flooding of the Nile usually was blamed to the Pharaoh. He's other responsibilities were to keep the soil nice and fertile, and keep the health of people healthy, also keep the fortunes of the army and the maintenance of peace in the country. The Pharaoh basically owned the whole lands of Egypt. No one was to question the Pharaoh, for he was a son of the go and was known to know everything. In courts in ancient Egypt, judgment was strictly taken when the Pharaoh decides what will happen; often he was able to do this without any evidence shown.

Another important person was a mortar maker, with these people pyramids would not have existed today; this is because they use a special blend of sand, lime, and water as a lubricant, this was used as stones to build pyramids. The people who worked on metal tools that people use to build pyramids are called metal workers, there job was important job too for pyramids. They also helped carpenters and tanners by material for cutting such as knives. The people that had the most important job for pyramids were called stone cutters. There job was very hard as well, they had to go to rock quarries which are hundreds of miles away and bring the rocks back to be the people are building pyramids. People who build house for residents in Egypt were called Masons. Depending on how rich the resident was the bigger the mason would build the house. The carpenter's job was to make stuff out of wood. It was hard because would wasn't very good in Egypt, the type of wood they had were date palm, sycamore, tamarisk and acacia, these are not good types of wood. If the carpenters worked with a rich person, they get a chance of having much better wood.
