The Revolutionary War the first war for the Americans gained us our freedom made us the nation we are today. The most famous battle during that war was the Battle of Bunker Hill. The American soldiers went to Boston surrounded the town to prevent the British Soldiers from attacking. The British trapped inside Boston and it did not look like a quick end to the war was in sight. The Americans did not want to loose a battle they were in charge of two hills near Boston. The hills were very important during this war besides they were easier to defend.
The morning air was crisp and cold as the fog lifted from the near by river sending a chill down each man's back. The air had a stillness that rang true in silence. The Americans seem to know that the British were somewhere a foot with mischief. The year was 1775 in the month of June on the 17th day and the American Patriots numbered about 1,600 men. The first hill in the conflict named Breed's Hill really became vital. Breed's Hill where most of the battle fought did not become as historic as Bunker Hill.
The second hill a very important hill named Bunker Hill very important to keep for the Patriots. The British decided that they would attack the Patriots. The British Solders all dressed up in their red and white uniforms looked very impressive while the Patriots were dressed in Buckskin looking like mere vagrants. The British General felt that he had nothing to worry about his men would take both hills before noon lunch.
The American Patriots fought back as hard as they could without slowing down a bit. They fired their gun as fast as they could until finally the British soldiers had to slow down and then finally retreat. The British soldiers did not give up and started up the hill a second time. This did not deter the Patriots they stood their ground waiting for the advance. The Americans had run out of ammunition so when the British advanced for the third time they won the battle of Breed Hill.
The British then proceeded to Bunker Hill where the Patriots had no ammunition to fight back so the British took that hill in that day. This was still one of the most important battles of the American Revolution because it showed the British that the Patriots were not afraid to fight. The British lost over 1,100 men while the Americans lost less than 400 soldiers. The British won the battle but in the end, the American Patriots won the war.
The Revolutionary War began the start of a new nation under the banner of freedom for all men. That is why this war of all wars was the most important.
