Thoughts on the sacrifices made by America during WWII.

418,500. The number of Americans who died in WWII. These were people who left families to take the horrors of war away from U.S. shores and to defeat fascism in its various forms. Most Americans, neither at the time nor now, realize that U.S. corporations were up to their eyes in bed with the fascist leaders of Germany, Japan, and Italy. Nothing has changed. The war being fought now is not with bombs and soldiers, but with finances, outsourcing, and "environmental concerns".

The brave men and women of the last great generation of Americans who are still with us are bewildered at the country they see before them. The 418,500, who gave the ultimate sacrifice for us, are no doubt questioning why they did it. The enemy they defeated on the battlefield has reemerged with Wall Street managers and Hollywood hype. The names have been changed to protect the guilty.

The industry which defeated fascism and could not be reached by enemy bombs, has been sent overseas to support a renewed enemy state. Allegedly so these corporations could afford "competitive wages" or to support "international development". All at the cost of everything the last great American generation fought to protect and to build once their victory had been won. It would appear that the American nation suffers from Alzheimer's disease and can't find its way home.
