King Tut

A brief description of King Tut, his tomb and his time and findings.

A mummy is a body that has been preserved by embalming or other forms of preservation. Mummies are different from skeletons because they are preserved, and because they are discovered with more remains attached to them other than the bones which are all a skeleton is. An ice mummy is a mummy found preserved in ice whereas an Egyptian mummy is a mummy preserved by ancient Egyptian ways and is found in a pyramid or sarcophagus.

Some of the clues archaeologists look for in a mummy are broken bones and harm done to other bodily organs for a cause of death and a comparison to the age of the bones to other bones that could be from its time era.

King Tut was discovered in Egypt and had his own tomb to which he was buried in. From what scientists can discover, King Tut was probably from the time frame of 1341 B.C. King Tut was pronounced king at the age of nine and by age nineteen was dead. Tut was an estimated five feet six inches and was slightly built.

Scientists and archaeologists know this information by taking X-rays of his bones' conditions right now and observing the healing that has taken place. Archaeologists also know this information from the writing in the tomb in which he was buried in. The hieroglyphics tell a story all about Tut.

King Tut was buried with numerous artifacts. The most important ones are his royal diadem (crown), the golden, jeweled container holding his mummified organs, and an alabaster sculpture. Since he was buried in a tomb, there were also other artifacts. Most of these were just his fortune.

From the immediate artifacts, scientists discover that King Tut was buried in Egyptian fashion and had a royal precession.
