The Great Wall of China

The construction of The Great Wall started in 221 BC. It is now about 2400 km long. It is one of the biggest tourist magnets in the world, and surely worth having a look at and walk along.

Most men had to participate and the conditions and camps for the workers were extremely poor with almost no food. Over thousands of Chinese people died under the construction of this amazing wall. The ones that died were buried inside the wall and are still there. Many things have been done to the bridge to strengthen, repair and reinforce it. It is the longest wall in the world and it is about 8 men standing side by side wide and it is higher than a double-decker bus.

They did not have machinery for constructing the wall, all they had was buckets and ropes fir hauling and moving larger objects. It is purely made from clay and stone and it was incredibly expensive for the emperor to built. Every 200 meters were built some posts for signaling attacks. A few wooden gates were built and they were under strict protection by the soldiers. It is an amazing experience and it is really recommended to visit by tourists who want to experience something!
