In WWII, there were the Axis powers (Germany, Italy, and Japan w/ 7 other countries) and the Allie Powers (Britain, France, Soviet Union, and later USA, and China w/ 45 other countries). At the beginning, the Axis was winning because of the Blitzkrieg, or lightning war, attacks, having all attack at once, taking them off guard. They used the V1 rocked carrying 1 ton of explosives.
Hitler makes a mistake by attacking the Soviet Union, making to German side of the war harder. Another mistake was Japan attacking Pearl Harbor, bringing in the US and their other allies. D-day was a plan by the allies to land on the coast on Normandy France and beat the Germans back, squeezing in Germany until it is popped. Italy then gets invaded by the allies, and Mussolini was executed by their own people by a meat hook. As time goes on, Mussolini was disliked. Hitler couldn't face defeat so supposedly he killed himself. On May 8th, 1945 Germany surrendered but the war wasn't over until august 1945 when Japan Surrendered. Now the war was over.
The effects of WWII were a lot different from the ones of WWI.
They were that it was the most destructive war in history, thousands of miles of land were destroyed, approximately 60 million people died, the US and Soviet Union become world powers, and many colonies gain independence. Also the UN was created to ensure there wouldn't be another world war.
The Holocaust was the mass murder of Jews. When the allies took over Germany, they saw what the Nazis had done to the Jews. The plan was extermination. In the concentration camps, gas chambers were built to carry out the plan of Genocide or racial destruction. About 6 million Jewish men, women, and children died in the holocaust about 3-6 million polishes, gypsies, and other undesirables were also killed. Hitler called all this the final solution. Hitler didn't view them as human; he viewed them as bugs and rodents.
When people got to the camps, they were separated by men, unable men, women and children. You would be separated from families, striped down and gassed. Many towns were ashing down slowly, like snow. Nazi doctors would do experiments, with bodies. It was also a prize for a German soldier to have stuff made from the skin of Jews.
Overall WWII was horrible and destructive, more than WWI, but both of these wars were equally destructive. Both of these wars showed how far a country will go to become powerful. It also shows how far people will go to support their country, and to do what they were told. If these wars were so bad, people wonder what WWIII will be like. That is why the UN today is trying its hardest to prevent the WWIII.
