Ulysses S. Grant

Dead bodies lying on the battlefield, the smell of rotten corpses and gunpowder, severed legs and arms and rotten flesh is all around. In the mist of the gunpowder, you see a short, thick man sitting on his trusty stallion. This man is the general of the federal army. His name is Ulysses S. Grant.

The war broke out in 1861; Ulysses S. Grant and the armed forces united again. His family visited him whenever they could. His children loved to see him.

His trusty steeds name is man killer. His horse was big with buckskin.

When he entered the army he couldn't even be assigned to a small command. Within to months he transformed a group of unruly, inexperienced man into a polished fighting force. He was immediately promoted to Brigadier general. Although he lost his first battle his superiors noticed his aggressiveness he has in battle. He has also respect from his men by the way he inaudibly organized their withdraw.

Ulysses S. Grant captured two camps in 1862, they were fort Henry, and for Donelson in Tennessee.

Fort Henry was the first major victory in the civil war. Working with Andrew H. Foote, Ulysses S. Grant took river fortification on February 6, 1862

Next Ulysses S. Grant marched twelve miles to fort Donelson. Fort Donelson guarded the approach to Nashville. Ulysses S. Grant successfully took the fort after several days of bombardment by land and sea.
