World War II - Turning Points

During World War II, there were many turning points that could of alter the course of history.

There are many turning points during War World II that could have affected history. The Battle of Britain is battle that could have affected the course of history. Hitler's main goals were to destroy the British RAF planes. Since he couldn't destroy much of them, he started to aim for cities/factories that built the RAF planes. Hitler's biggest mistake is he didn't finish off Britain when he had the chance to. As a result, this will cause him to lose the war.

If he had constantly bombed Britain just for a few more months, Britain would have surrendered. This would have made Hitler easily won the World War II easily because all he had to depend on was Russia. Russia is still not modernized as the European countries. But Hitler got too greedy that he stopped focusing on Britain and started making plans for conquering Russia. Another turning point was Hitler's plans to conquer the Soviet Union called Operation Barbarossa. Hitler's second biggest mistake was splitting his army into three groups.

If Hitler had focus his army in one spot, the capital of Russia, Russia would have surrender and “General Winter” would have never hit the German's army. Germany would have won World War II and prevent them suffering from heavy casualties. Hitler had made concentration camps to eliminate the Jewish race and preserve the Aryan race.

At the end of the Holocaust about 11 million people were killed. Hirohito had attacked Pearl Harbor on Dec 7 1941 to weaken the US naval force. The attack on Pearl Harbor had led the U.S entered World War II and end the Great Depression. Mussolini had brought his county back together by Fascism and he also influenced Hitler. The magnitude of the war was huge because almost the whole world got involved with War World II.

As I see it, Hitler stopped bombing Britain as heavily because the Luftwaffe couldn't gain mastery of the air. Every nazi attack resulted in casualties to their aircraft, Hitler couldn't sustain the bombing because he couldn't afford the losses to his air force. The Messerschmitt 101s were fine aircraft and their pilots skilled but our Spitfires were on a par with them and the nazis were fighting us on our home turf. You have written an interesting article and it raises some fascinating points. Not forgetting that the V1 and V2s could have finished us off if the Allied attack on Normandy had failed.
