Christmas with the Cranks

Family feud

Back in November of 2006, just before Thanksgiving my 14-year-old daughter came home and told me of an email her aunt was sending out. It was to inform friends and family members that “to save her self from stress and the expense of the normal gift giving of the season she no longer intended to give gifts to anyone between the ages of 18 and 90 this struck me as odd since her mother at the time was only 74.

Simply the cold-hearted way of do, this by way of email prompted me to reply to this strange turn of events. So since most of my kids are over 18 I asked this person not to give anything to any of my children.

This infuriated this individual and prompted her to revise her email. This one change both the ages of oldest and youngest that she intended to give gifts to. The changed from under 21 to over 73. which now that her mother was now back in her gift giving range I thought she was on the right track however this age restriction still left one of my kids out of the eqation . So I repeated my request that she do what made her happy just leave my kids off her gift list –all or none is how I feel ,their whole lives I tried to make sure since they’er family I insist they be on a equal playing field at home if no where else .

By my not letting her nonsense be acceptable, my family and I was made to pay the price of her vindictiveness. Thanks giving dinner, which has always been at my 74-year-old mothers house was moved with out any ones in put to her daughter’s house which of course she neglected to give out the address.

My middle son came home from school a week before Christmas so when she sent there gifts in the mail (my 15 year old and my 18 year old) when she for the last 23 years gave them out on Christmas day. This made it counter productive for me to seen them back and attempt to give all three of them something and let them think it was from her. It forced me to have to tell my oldest son that the aunt he loved and respected was not celebrating Christmas with anyone his age or older because of the issues and disappointments with her own children.

We are a small family and it troubles me deeply to think petty jealousies have divided us

I am Evangelist and have to speak.
