Four Leaf Clovers

The passing of St Patty's day brings new days... Are you ready for them?

Saint Patrick's Day has passed, along with all the green clovers, snakes, and the green beer, which by the way seems to be a very strange idea to me… I am not sure who came up with the concept of green beer, but whoever they were, they need to be whipped with a fresh green vine. Beer should remain amber colored and never ever green. Captain Kirk may like green buns, but I am thinking some things should just be left alone as they are naturally...

With the passing of St. Patty's day comes the onset of spring and Easter, which is not a bad thing, it means longer warmer days are a coming. Unfortunately it also means the passing of a new year, and I am one year older. On April 29th I will be 38 years old. Where does the time go?

I remember when I was my son's age, and he is but ten. That was many years ago, or should I say many beers ago? I can remember getting my driver's license, drinking my first beer, my first date ever, it don't seem like that long ago. The ticking of time reminds us of just how old we really are.

Sometimes we tend to forget just how old we have become. In time our time will be no more, like notches in the handle of an outlaw's guns. Our days are numbered, and eventually everything passes away.

People come and people go. Our lives are filled with people who come, and go. While in Michigan I made a few friends, and I made a few enemies, but I learned one of life's most valuable lessons, when it comes right down to it, you have only yourself to rely on. That might seem a little cold, and a little unfeeling but my heart has been blackened by life.

As I sit here early into the morning I have come to this realization, and I understand now why Anakin Skywalker™ became Darth Vader™. He was a boy so full of love and hope for the world, and he lost himself to the consuming evil for all the right reasons. It puts me in mind of what my granny always said; the road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

Every day is a struggle with me not to loose myself to the hatred and anger over the hand life has dealt me. While in Michigan I was admitted to a hospital, put in a padded room and had my face peed on by an orderly.

For a long time I blamed others for that, but that was wrong, I was there of my own doings. Nobody but me was responsible for my being there. It was my own vices and my own habits that got me put there in the first place, and had I been honest with those who cared about me in the first I might not be where I am today.
