Hassle Free Holidays

The holidays don't have to be rushed and stressful! Hassle-Free Holidays: Taking the Stress Out of the Holiday Season

The holidays come quickly each year. From gifts, to parties, to special moments with your family, sometimes it is difficult to manage so many events. You might even find yourself, one of the masses, who feels empty in the end wondering where the time went and why you didn't enjoy this special time of year.

There is hope for holiday stress. With a few simple changes, you will be well on your way to hassle free holidays.

Evaluate Your Current Holiday Season

Before beginning this process, evaluate where you are this holiday season. Are you running from place to place? Are you concerned over mounting holiday bills? Or, for you, perhaps the stress of balancing obligations with family and friends is incredibly stressful.

Keep What is Special

Once you've identified problem areas in your holiday celebrations, think about the things that would make your holiday season special. These are often the memory making moments that get pushed aside. What would make your holidays extra special? Is it baking cookies, a carousel ride with your children, or maybe visiting a nursing home with a basket of unexpected goodies? Make plans for these events in your schedule.

Don't feel bad about blocking this time off in your planner and turning down outside invitations. Remember, these are the memories that will warm your heart long after the holidays are gone.

Get Organized

Getting yourself organized will be a big help in preparing for the holiday season. A simple internet search will result in dozens of free holiday planners that can be easily printed on a home computer and include forms such as card lists, gift lists, purchase records and event planners.

Use these to make a list of gift purchases you need to make as well as those already made. You might consider keeping these lists in a folder along with any wish lists, guide" often and update it with every purchase. This step alone will help you stay organized and will add joy and relief to your holidays.

Remember "Less Is More"

At this time of the year, keep in mind, less really is more. Do your children really need dozens of new toys? Do you really need to purchase a gift for everyone in your office? Simplifying your gift lists will simplify the post holiday budget crunch.

Think of giving a simple card, a nice piece of chocolate or a mug with a packet of flavored coffee or hot chocolate. A few special gifts are all any child really needs. Children will really only play with one or two of their toys and most parents know, soon after the holidays, most toys are quickly forgotten.

Stay Home

One more tip to a nice holiday season is to reduce traveling. You don't have to personally visit with every member of the family on Christmas Day. Though some may temporarily have hurt feelings, in the long run, time spent with your immediate family, relaxing at home, may be more meaningful and memorable for everyone.

Start Early Next Year

Finally, planning early for the next year is the best start you can give yourself. Don't take a chance that you might forget after this year's festivities. Take time to make notes on what worked and what didn't. Pack these notes away with your decorations to avoid them being misplaced. Pay attention through out the year for after holiday and through the year store closeouts and sales. Resolve to reduce and purchase gifts early.

We all want the joy of a stress and hassle free holiday season.

Take time now, to make this special season joyful and memorable for your family.
