Sri Lanka's Festivals

Information about Sri Lanka's Festivals.

Festivals are a very important part of Sri Lanka. Festivals in Sri Lanka are where people sing and dance and eat different food. They also where special clothes for parties and festivals. Woman wear sari's and men wear sarvani. Some people go to temples every week. In the temples they sing traditional and play music. They also pray at the temple. When they finish they eat rice with different vegetables and curry. The most important part of Sri Lanka is New Year. New Year is celebrated 13th and 14th of April. On New Years Eve people clean they houses and don't cook. Families get together and visit other families. On New Year Eve children play gudo and coconuts. They also decorate they houses and do traditional dancers, sing and eat traditional food.
