Now for some of you that look at this picture may have mixed emotions, some would say that this dog is a beast or a horrible threat to your community. With Zeus this is not the case, even though he is a mixed breed and his father is a red nosed pit bull peer breed, while on the other hand you would be shocked to hear that his loving mother who is also in our residence is a mixed breed. We call her Minnie which is nothing like her attitude, she's a mix between a boarder collie, black lab mixture which is a wonderful mixture in dogs in my own opinion.
On the other hand Zeus was the first of six puppy's in Minnie's litter, Zeus was born behind our dryer even though we tried to have Minnie birth on a comfortable bed that we bought at the local pet store. Of course we all know that in many states of the U.S.A. pit bulls are being forbidden. This is a worry for many of us that have grown and fallen in love with these companions that have been at our side sense the beginning of time itself.
For me personally it would be like someone coming into my house and taking away my five year old boy, no exceptions, no second chances. Gone, naught a inch of remorse, but I believe that it's how you raise a dog that determines his or her nature. Yes a dog is an animal and they have a place in our society, but they have a place in our hearts.
They provide security for the house hold, they provide companionship in times of loneliness, they get us out of bed even when we don't want to in the first. They are there when no one is there, for some they provide eye's when we can't see, for some they provide ears when we can not hear. What better a partner than a dog by your side when your in the woods hunting for sport or even for food to put on you plate.
Zeus has had it pretty tough sense he was born, he was over weight and it seemed that all of the other dogs had it in for him until the day they were all placed in loving homes. Then just as Zeus was getting his legs and stability, he was attacked and mauled by a Boston terrier. This was when Zeus was still growing and his left leg was badly damaged, if it wasn't for the help of a friend that's a veterinarian he would've been put down.
So just to bring this to an end, pit bulls are not a threat as much as the owners who raise them. I think that if you can't handle the dog then the owner shouldn't have that type of dog or just shouldn't have a dog at all.
For all of the dog lovers out there, keep loving your dogs, for those who don't treat your dogs with love and compassion, for shame!
