Maybe I didn't express my opinion in a correct matter. I am the first to admit when I have made a mistake. In no way am I a racist. I feel everyone who is legally an American should have the opportunity to be employed anywhere they choose.
I realize we live in a country where everyone has the right to speak whatever language they choose. We have employers who can employ anyone who is legally able to work.
If you are an American citizen, you have a right to gainful employment. You pay social security, have a social security card and pay taxes. Many immigrants came to the United States in order to make a better life for their families. As I stated in my original article, I do not have a problem with this. In fact, my family heritage is German.
As far as foreign languages being taught in school, yes I'm sure it's a positive thing. As one reader said, “it makes the student well rounded.” Indeed it does. When I was in school, we weren't offered a foreign language. As I grew older, I realized how valuable the knowledge of a foreign language would have been.
I guess the only people who are being discriminated against are the ones who don't speak up for their rights.
