Bad parents are out there and educators are seeing more and more examples of child abuse every single day. Educators are bound by law to report all potential child abuse cases. The direct words from the child are often the most alarming and telling. Here are some of the most disturbing things that a child can tell us:
- “My dad drinks beer all day and gets mad.”.
- “My mom gets drunk and yells every night.”.
- “My dad makes me steal from the market.”.
- “My mom tried to cut herself last night.”
- “My dad slaps me if I wake him.”
- “My mom sleeps all day and takes pills.”
- “My dad is having another hang-over today.”.
- “My mom gets arrested.”.
- “My dad keeps a loaded gun in the house.”.
- “My mom gets money at night from different boyfriends who spend the night.”.
- “My dad hits my mom.”.
- “My mom said she wants to leave me by the side of the road like she left our cat.”.
- “My dad makes me watch the babies at night so he can go out.”.
- “My mom spends the food money on pot sometimes.”.
- “My dad lets me sip his beer and laughs when I get dizzy.”.
- “My mom lets me puff her cigarette.”.
- “My dad told me he does not want a kid.”.
- “My mom hits me sometimes.”.
- “My dad leaves me in the car with the ignition running.”.
- “My mom tears up the bills so we don't have to pay them.”.
- “My dad got mad and left us”
- “My mom hates my dad.”.
- “My dad makes me answer the phone and tell his boss he is sick when he has a hang-over.”.
- “My mom kicked me.”.
- “My dad locks me out of the house.”.
- “My mom leaves me home alone at night.”.
- “My dad touches me in a private place.”.
- “My mom gave my dad a black eye.”.
- “My dad hit my mom and she wouldn't call the police.”.
- “My mom says she wishes I never was born.”
Educators are not the only witnesses to potential child abuse. Many times neighbors and friends do not wish to become involved so the abuse continues until someone listens.
Parents are supposed to protect their children. But sometimes it is the children that need protection from their own bad parents.
