I was in the bar I work, Humphrey's, chilling out with a couple of other members of staff when some trouble started. Some gay guy who was sitting down on a couch had said something to some chav. Of course chavs aren’t too open minded so he smacked him in the face, blood was everywhere and this gay guy, lost a tooth.
He had one of those big rings on his finger that they wear because they know they can't fight clean, so did a lot of damage. He was standing up over this guy who wasn't at all the fighter so if he had stood up he would have got killed.
Without thinking I ran over and rugby tackled him into a fire door and used a leg sweep to bring him down to the floor. From there I wrapped up one of his arms and hooked his head in a headlock so he couldn't move. The guy was freaking out because he couldn't move & I was talking to him, telling him to calm down.
One of his mates tried to get involved but the other staff sorted all that out.
Once the aggressor had calmed down enough, I let him up and said "look, I'm not fighting you, I'm just calming you down" and he seemed to be OK. Then the gay guy, who had been in the toilets cleaning himself up, came out and was working his mouth off so I had to then grab hold of him and push him into the toilets to tell him to shut the hell up and clean himself up.
Then it all seemed to calm down until at the door, the Aggressor started on the Assistant Manager but that was quickly & easily dealt with. During this the Police were called to the scene and were on their way.
They came and took statements from a few people and went looking for the guys that started it. After this, the gay guy starts having a panic attack in the toilets. He's lying on the floor shaking like I don't know what, and his breathing is all messed up.
Right away, my gut feeling was that he needed to sort his breathing out and he'd be fine but everybody around me was saying other stuff. Then they were asking for an ambulance but I refused to call one on the basis that by the time they got there he would be OK.
A customer got involved with it, who was a fireman, and he said that he definitely needed an ambulance, and that he should be in the recovery position.
So off I went to call an Ambulance for him and on the phone they told me that he should be sitting up and leaning forward to help his breathing, not laying in the recovery position & that they'd send an Ambulance.
When it got to the pub, the guy had calmed down loads and was just about breathing right so there was nothing for them to do.
After all this had happened and calmed down, it was too late to go to any other pub because they were all shut so off I went home.
I woke up this morning with a grazed elbow, my right knee is hurting and I have a gash on the top of my chest, just below my neck. I also had other people's blood on my top, jeans and shoes. Bloody typical!
Alcohol; the route of all problems but also a temporary answer to your problems.
