Don't tempt me.....

Has anyone else noticed the growing trend for people walking out in front of cars? Mostly teenage boys, and usually dressed like chavs. They look to see if there's anything coming, then just walk across the road regardless, looking cockily at you through the windscreen as they do so.

They seem to just assume that you will HAVE to stop for them.

WRONG!!!!! I don't and won't stop for them.

This happens on a regular basis on a particular stretch of road not far from where I live. There are speed bumps for about a mile and a half so luckily for them, this restricts my speed to about 20mph, enough maybe to break a bone or two if they were stupid enough to call my bluff , but not enough to do any real damage.

I have in the past clipped a few with my wing mirror, which usually results in a torrent of verbal abuse from the said chav, but as a rule, when they see that I have no intentions of either slamming on the brakes or even slowing down, they usually find a sudden burst of energy.

The last time this happened, I was called a 'dick head'!! Erm......obviously not as a big a dick head as someone that blatantly walks out in front of a moving vehicle, hehe.

I really thought I had seen it all until a couple of months ago when I had to go out in the car to the shops, and a boy of about 15 was lying sprawled out halfway across the road on the other side. Two girls of about the same age were sitting on the kerb and I don't know whether he thought he looked cool or brave, but boy, did he look stupid when on the way back, as I approached, I put my foot on the accelerator. I didn't speed up as I had my other foot on the clutch, but the noise was enough to frighten him into action. Honestly, he looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights. *titter*. I drove on with a smug grin and a sense of satisfaction that just maybe I taught him a valuable lesson, that as mad as he is......there's always someone madder.

So to any of you chavs out there or just people in general that might be able to relate to this, if you ever see me coming, you better get out of the way pretty quick, be warned, I will NOT stop!!!

The only problem with this though is can you live with the guilt if you actually do run someone over and seriously hurt them or kill them. Either way you face years of being in and out of court for charges and financial lawsuits which they would win as pedestrians have right of way. Yes its annoying they do this especially when 1 metre ahead is a crossing where they can legally do it but I certainly do stop. I am not running over a person as ultimately the driver always pays the price.

It probably wouldn't happen nearly as much if children were taught about this marvellous little thing called "consequences". If you stick your hand in a flame, it's going to burn. If you step in front of moving cars then eventually one won't be able to stop.

Great articles. I love your sense of humour.

This was meant to be taken as \'tongue in cheek\' Michelle........you clearly don\'t get my sense of humour.

Thanks for the comment \'One Who Listens\', I\'m glad you liked it.
