Drowning in Your Own Tap Water, Global Warming

The world is in danger of suicide, but, who is ready to listen? This is pollution's success story.

It would sound relieving that we still have enough water till the end of humanity, and that Armageddon is not actually coming to be a scorching death as many science fiction movies have shown, yet, what is more scary is that it could be something as horrific and unpredictable as the previous one: drowning.

According to a recent research done in the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Colorado, they predicted global warming to get worse.

Well this is not much of news you might say, but yet, if you read between the lines, it meant that global warming of 0.5 degree Celsius will cause other negative effects such as melting of the ice on the poles and other “frozen” countries, such as Greenland and Iceland (5 meters of water if melted)… and more over, the ice of Antarctic (7.6 meters of water if melted).

This research was done on complex program-simulations that would calculate all the different variables affecting the atmosphere. Some of these factors can be the carbon dioxide that human exhales, the pollution by the cars and the factories, the ice melting of the arctic regions… many countries did accept to sign the 1997 Kyoto treaty to reduce the pollutions that gave this nasty effect, yet, the main polluter, the United States, withdrew from this treaty since this project would hurt its economy.

The global warming has left its fingerprints in every country and continent. Its shadow is wide & massive since it doesn't restrict itself on the sea level rise or the heat. Its other effects are the epidemic diseases that are spreading more and more, the animal population and species that are changing, the drought and the flooding that are becoming more and more frequent, the disappearance of some islands and the creation of new ones, the arctic and Antarctic warming, the earlier spring arrivals, the unbearable summers and the extremely cold winters are also its side effects.

The global warming effect started long ago and has been a usual topic of international interest, beginning with the ozone layer getting thinner and absent in some regions, adding to the abovementioned problems new ones such as the UV rays that burn the skin to cancer or have fires around the neighborhoods.

Global warming is not news, but we shouldn't forget that it is still there threatening the generations yet to come, leaving them one impractical option: start breathing underwater and share the fish's world. :)
