Gas Prices

Can we the people take a stand against high gas prices?

These days you can't go anywhere without wondering why gas prices are the way they are.

In some states they are lower and in others they are higher. Is it because the states with the higher prices are so far from the processing plants, or is it because the cost of transporting the oil to those states is more?

Everyone knows that gas prices are out of sight. The oil companies say they are not price gouging but I don't think they are telling the truth. It's all about money. Money in someone's pocket. The average man/woman can hardly afford to go to work these days due to the high gas prices. We are working only to put gas in our vehicles and put that money into some bigwigs pocket.

Take a look at the trucking industry. Diesel is also high and it is costing trucking companies more to transport goods across the country, so in the end the little man ends up paying for it. It costs the owner/operators more to transport their loads which in turn in putting many owner/operators out of work.

People in the areas of the country who need heat during the cold winter months have to pay outrageous prices for that heat. There are people who can't afford to pay that cost. So many are living either on Social Security or small pensions. How many people have to freeze before someone takes notice? Sure there are charities that will help those who need it, but everyone ends up paying in the long run.

Why doesn't our government take steps to stop this? Once again, it's all about money. Money for elections, money for their special interests groups. The big oil companies have a large stake in who is in office. The more money they donate to a congressman (even though I think there is a limit), helps to ensure his place.

These companies don't want alternate fuels. Understandable, because it would hurt their profits.

The people of this country need to take a stand. It is understandable that no one can just say I'm not going to drive today, because we all have to work. But if each person took just one day and didn't drive anywhere, who knows what would happen. Ever notice how gas prices go up around holidays? Ever wonder why?

It is because the oil companies know that during the holidays people want to travel to see family. Well, wonder what would happen if just one holiday, everyone decided to stay at home? Maybe we, the people should think about it .

It's time to take a stand.

One point, the politicians - particularly the ones in the pockets of the environmentalists don't want a solution. The money is coming in for them too.
