Gay Marriage: Right or Wrong?

I realise this may be a controversial issue, but I believe it is one that doesn't even need to be discussed.

Who Does It Hurt?

Gay marriage. Are gays violently protesting for their right to marriage? Are they killing judges for not letting them enter a state of "matrimony"? Not from what I hear. Do they strap bombs to their chests and run into churches where they can't get married? No. So why can't two people who are in love express to the world that they are in love? So I ask you if any harm is befalling you from some guy down the street getting married to another guy.

It Takes Away Human Rights

When two gays are denied the right to marriage, the world is calling them less than human because if two straight people went into the city hall asking for a marriage liscence, it would be granted. And when you take away a right to marriage, where will it end? Next will come gays' rights to live together. Then it will be illegal to be gay. People would be sent to prison just because they slept in a friend's bed rather than on the floor. Where is the justice there?

It takes away the freedom of expression. Gay people can love too. They are human just like the rest of us. They long to be loved and charished just like the rest of us. So what if they want to be held by someone of the same sex. Wasn't it always easier, guys, to talk to your dad about somethings? That's not being gay. They are just trying to be comfortable. As far as I know the Constitution of this great nation hasn't abolished that right.

Who are We to Say No?

What makes us so much better that we can tell them not to be who they are? There is nothing that makes us better than them. In fact we may even be worse. We are violent against gay people and what have they ever done to us? Challanged the way we think? It's not like gay people go around raping us, or even each other for that matter. Face it, we all know gay people. They like different things than we might, but we aren't the ones to tell them no.

So please, think about this, and before you make a judgement about someone because they're gay, get to know them, and think to yourself, maybe he/she isn't so bad. Thank you.

Good article and well written. It is my belief that those who are so against homosexuality have this completely rooted in fear, although it is often disguised as a religious belief. But then again Jesus was put to death on the cross because certain people were afraid of him. Our species is one that does not respond well initially to change. We tend to want to destroy anything that we feel is threatening to our way of thnking. There is an evolution to everything and I believe it will eventually become one of the rules as opposed to one of the exceptions however, I dont know that we will see it in our lifetime. Part of the evolution is information and conversation, and in doing that it becomes an issue not of gay rights but of HUMAN rights, as it should be.
