Today’s world may not be here tomorrow. The world of our past is changing everyday, and not for the better. If we keep using up this worlds resources, our children may not have a planet to call home.
It is a scary thought, that one day Earth will not be the same, maybe not even livable. With the way we are consuming the earths resources it is a likely outcome that the Earth’s resource will have to someday end. I fear that that someday is sooner then we think. It is theorized that if we do not change how we live and the destruction that we cause, the world will change forever. If we do not change our lifestyles within the next ten years we may be past the line of no return, were no matter what we do we will not be able to fix what we have done. But we still have time.
Though this is a global problem someone needs to take a stand and be and example for the rest of the world. I believe that America is just that someone. We, as Americans, produce the greatest amount of waste in the world that by taking the lead and reducing our output will not only lead the way for others to follow but also take a huge chunk of the problem away. There are so many small things that you can do every day to reduce your effect on the planet. By something as simple as changing your light bulbs in your home to energy star or long lasting light bulbs will have its own affect. Or by buying energy star appliances that will not only save you money on your electric bill but also save the planet. To the bigger things like buying a Hybrid car for your next car purchase, you even get a tax deduction. Some other things are for example carpooling to work, or walking or riding a bike, instead of driving everywhere.
Most of the things that you can do are small but if every one did just the small things, like changing your light bulbs, we could be on our way to saving the only place that we have to live. This is not an issue that can be ignored, it will not go away. If we do nothing, we will not have a planet to live on! That is a serious problem. We have only one Earth, lets do everything that we can to keep it livable, so that our children’s, children, have the same Earth that we do.
