What's going on? Global warming! In approximately 30 years your house could be underwater from this major heat. Greenhouse gases being emitted into the air by our factories heat up the whole world! Why would your house be under water though? The answer is at the poles. When the earth heats up Greenland and Antarctica are melting adding to the water level worldwide; Billions of people everywhere would have to relocate.
Your probably wondering though what you can do about it. Although you can't stop it all alone you can help. There are three ways you can help: directly, indirectly, and confronting. Directly is when you help by picking up trash or using more energy efficient products. Indirectly you can boycott an item or service. Lastly you can confront a company or advertise your thoughts all around.
You Can Help
Before we get into how you can help though we'll go over the basic principles of global warming. First it starts with the pollutants; the pollutants prevent UV rays and heat from escaping the earth's atmosphere. When they can't escape the earth absorbs them. Not all of the greenhouse effect is bad though. Some of it is needed to regulate the temperature. Still greenhouse gases right now are at an all time high and are going up. This is what we need everyone to help with.
First is indirectly, the most common way is using more energy efficient products. Although they are some times more expensive than the regular product they save you money and the environment. By using less energy fewer pollutants are produced by the energy supplier. Also you can boycott products that don't promote a clean earth.
You also can call your electric company; see if they supply green energy.
If they don't supply this cleaner alternative ask why or if they can get it. Looking for cleaner alternatives is an excellent way to help out.
The Cleaner Alternative
Next is directly helping, this is the perfect one if you want to go out and help. This area ranges from picking up trash to campaigning against bad habits. You could start out easy, just tell someone you know. If you spread the word people will start chipping in. If you are in some position of leadership get people to start listening. You also could go out and buy a hybrid instead of a normal one.
You don't have to go out to help either, all you have to do is shut of a light or read a book instead of playing video games. Just keep thinking: Be Efficient.
