Global Warming

Global warming is the beginning of the end of the world if it continues.

Researchers and scientists have come up with different opinions on global warming. Some say that Global warming is a hoax, caused by the government to scare the public into a shock so they would use fewer resources that the earth provides, or provided. Other scientists said that global warming is not a hoax and that it is an issue that should be taken seriously instead of it being brushed aside.

Ragnar Danneskjöld says that global warming is a hoax. He says I quote “if the ice in the north is melting, how come the ocean is not warming up or hot?” He also said that just because a bunch of scientists have evidence that “might” support the theory of global warming, people should still not believe it. Ragnar also said, I quote again; “the earth is cooler now than anytime in 450,000 years and look forward to the day when I sail over the arctic like my ancestors.”

Some scientists have proof that global warming is not a hoax. Some of this evidence includes the disappearance of glaciers over short periods of time. One of the most known evidence of global warming is the rise of the ocean levels and the rise of temperature over the last 20 years since 1980s. It was in 1998 when the warmest time was recorded. Ever since there has been wacky climate changes, such as, warmer summers, no snow on winter, and raining when it should be sunny.

Some scientist even came up with ways to slow down or even stop global warming from progressing any further. A man from Columbia University named Wallace Broecker gave an opinion that we should invent a machine that would slow down global warming by sucking all the co2 that we are releasing into the earths atmosphere. One simple way that could help the campaign to stop global warming is if everyone stopped driving large polluting cars such as hummers, and instead drive hybrid cars.

No one knows if global warming is really true because of all the doubts. I think that global warming is real because I have experienced the climate changes. For years now the weather hasn't been the same since the 1980s.

The IPCC (intergovernmental on climate change) summarized that the average global surface temperature will rise 1.1 Celsius during the 21st century. The IPCC also stated that the warming temperature and rising sea level are expected to continue for more than a thousand years, even if the greenhouse gas level is stabilized. Scientists also believe that if greenhouse gas emissions continue like it is now, the temperature of the increased heat will affect the pattern of precipitation, which will increase the climate changes. Climate change is not the only thing that will increase, another recent study shows that natural disasters such as flood, lightning, and hurricanes like hurricane Katrina will be stronger than ever before.

On April 16th, 2008, George Bush changes his stance on global warming by setting a new goal about global warming. The goal he plans to accomplish is to halt the growth of Greenhouse gas before the year 2025. During a Rose garden speech, Bush called on some of the world's big polluters such as developing nations like India, and china, to set there own kind of restrictions, adding he would include U.S limits in a binding international agreement only if they would agree. After the speech, critics pounced on the new plan, questioning why it took Bush until his final year as presidency to finally take action.

The main cause of global warming is automotive transportation, coal burning, and release of carbon dioxide co2. Most of these are usually colorless and odorless. People can say “hey, if we stop burning coal, stop driving cars and only ride bikes, and recycle more, than we can stop global warming.” Easier said than done. People my think that it's easy to quit doing all of these things, but it's not that simple, nothing is. It can be, but it isn't. Ever since the evolution of technology, from the invention of the wheel, to the first created automobile, humans have become very lazy, and that's a fact. People everyday depend on technology to do get through their everyday life.

In my research and the knowledge I know about global warming, there is no stopping global warming at the pace that it is going. That necessarily doesn't mean that we cant try though. I think that we cannot fix the past, only make the future a better place and lead a good example for the next generation.
