A global dilemma has threatened mankind once again! Man has used fossil fuels to satisfy man’s thirst for energy and has overdone it nearly to the point of no turning back! Lets talk of the consequences that leads to this seemingly dangerous threat.
Fossil fuels are usually dead plants or animals that have been believed to form fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and more. When burned these fossil fuels can be converted to energy but the downside is that it releases a gas called carbon dioxide. So you can see a lot of energy we use could come from fossil fuel plants. Plus even our cars we drive emit carbon dioxide! Carbon dioxide goes in to our atmosphere and create the greenhouse effect! The green house effect is the carbon dioxide building up there to let heat through but not let it escape.
The greenhouse effect since it stores the heat inside the earth can have a devastating effect on earth. For example the heat can melt the ice in the north pole and Antarctica. Once the ice has melted, the volume of the ice melted into water adds to the sea level and can drown some areas in the world! With the ice melting, since the ice’s color is white and light is reflected by lighter colors while being absorbed by darker colors the ocean, since the ocean absorbs light can melt the ice even more!
The ice melting can even drown some of the earth’s places! This danger, we hope that the worlds authorities know this since this can be the decision that can either harm everyone or help everyone. The decision is theirs to consider and ponder over.
Can there be anything we can do? Why yes! We can! We can instead of driving to some places, you can walk of bike there! You can also conserve energy by turning the lights off when you don’t need it or anything in that matter. Remember even a little can help a lot! There are special cars and renewable energy plants that don’t emit carbon dioxide! But they can be expensive but whether to use it is up to you!
