VIOLENCE
Violence has been on the rise everywhere. It seems to be a sin and a shame that people can no longer leave their children's bicycles outside without chaining them up to something or leaving their front doors unlocked so that they might let in a little sunshine and fresh air. Children can't even celebrate Halloween any more for fear of drugs in their candy and treats. The elderly have to be moved into nursing home facilities because the youth of this day and age are subject to harm them in ways unimaginable. Violence is definitely on the rise, but is it really due to the influence of television?
TELEVISION
Television has many violent shows broadcasted daily. There are shows on gangs and murders as well as rapes and robberies. However, it is believed that the news is what really inspires the majority of the crimes and criminals that react to television. The news in America displays all there is to know about what is happening across the United States. They have told the nation about the 9/11 incident, Iraq, and the school shootings. Many times there are criminals that aren't well developed yet. The television teaches them exactly how to commit the crimes they had already thought of committing. Television shows people how and what happens and so that they become copy-cat criminals.
There would have never been so many school shootings if they had not been publicized so much. Neither would there have been so many other crimes if the criminals had not seen how to get the world's attention or maybe even the instructions to do so.
REALITY
People are actually mimicked by television. However, the things that criminals do, are publicized and they alert new criminals. Television does give insight to those who are want-to-be's. It makes them know just how to become the criminal that they have been dreaming up all this time. There would definitely be less crime if the news did not tell the nation every, tiny bit of gruesome information that happens around the world.
