Just about every other week I see stories on talk shows about these young girls who are no more than ten to sixteen, seventeen years old talking about how they want to have a baby and how they'll do just about anything if not anything and everything to do it. I don't understand why such bright young girls would want that for themselves at such a young age. They have so much to live for. When I see stuff like that it honestly makes me cry. I just want to go to them and talk with them to get some sort of understanding as to why they feel the need to destroy their future.
I know that there are many teen mothers in this world. I myself am one! But I hear about these girls doing it because someone else did or they think its cool or they need someone to love them or feel like they're not loved and I just cry. Not just because I feel sorry for them, but also because I know first hand what it is like to be fourteen and pregnant or seventeen and pregnant. Been there done that! Truly my theory is that if you're old enough to have sex then your old enough to take care of a baby. It's a part of the responsibility of thinking your grown and having sex when your not.
I've also heard of teen girls going in for abortions. I for one am totally AGAINST abortions. No matter what the reason. I don't understand why anyone for that matter would want to kill an innocent child who never asked to be conceived in the first place. Why not just hold out the nine months and give the baby up for adoption to a family who loves kids or a family who cannot have kids? Please understand that this is my opinion. I don't mean to offend anyone.
I read a story earlier today about a fourteen year old, girl who gave birth to a stillborn in an airplane. How do you not know your child is pregnant? This is not directed specifically to the young girls parents, but it is directed to all parents. We've been pregnant obviously we know the signs. How do we just let something like that just slip through lives? Things like this is why we have to pay more attention to our children and know everything about everything or at least try harder so that we as parents can protect our children from making mistakes so young.
I have two boys, but I hope to someday have a little girl and I would not want to let other things be too important in my life that I don't realize something is different or awkward about my little girl and find out she's pregnant. I don't want her to feel like her parents didn't love her enough or that she's not loved or to feel lonely. I know every parent wants the best for their children and although I don't know all the teens going through these emotions I also want the best for you.
