We have all used them - those wonderful soft patches within a sticky adhesive wrap for all those cuts and scrapes we've endured in our lives. But what about a band-aide for our mind. What can we use to heal all those wounds we have endured that we can't cover up with a band-aide in the hopes of healing in a few days time?
We all have those kinds of injuries - and I'm sure there are just as many ways of helping to heal them. Does time heal all wounds, or do we merely learn to push it in a proper place for future reflection? If there was ever a pill invented that would offer selective memory loss, would you take it?
I'm constantly flooded with this thought dear readers;
How do you judge those who have hurt you so greatly, yet have never ever shown an ounce of remorse? If someone kills a loved one, rapes a little one, causes a permanent disability on a husband - what recourse do really have? Yes, perhaps a lawsuit here or there. Maybe even criminal charges. But does that really take away the great amount of pain that you endure because of another's actions? How much satisfaction do you really obtain?
If we do not look within ourselves, and decide that we have to let go of some things in order to merely survive, then we may truly be lost. Personally, I don't want to spend the remainder of my life doing so. So much has already been occupied with such great grief and sadness. Its really hard when someone says to me that they can't believe I have endured all that I have. It may be unbelievable, but it is my life. I would change it if I had the power to do so. But I also cannot let it ruin what life I may have left.
A true riddle that haunts me;
How do we forgive the unforgivable? What does it take? Can all do it? I would love to know if anyone has figured this one out yet, and if so, please share it with me. The only thing I can come up with is that for our own self preservation, we must forgive even the unforgivable - otherwise it could truly kill us.
If only there was a band-aide we could use to heal the wounds of our hearts and souls.
