I have often heard of the concept of mail order brides, but should they really be legal?
Many people from foreign countries come to the United States in hopes of a better life.
This goal is a great and beautiful one, and when achieved,
gives the person a whole new set of doors that are opened in their lives.
Many of these people arrive here as mail order brides.
Bankers, Lawyers, Doctors ... the diversity of those who turn to agencies
to mail order brides is quite astounding.
However, the dilemma I see with mail order brides is,
once they get here, there is often no route of escape if the relationship is an abusive one.
I heard a few years back about a man who had a mail order bride from Russia.
The man turned abusive shortly after he got his new bride to the U.S.
Nobody knew, and nobody protected her and the man was later accused of murdering her.
I believe the agencies that provide these mail order brides
should have the responsibility of keeping them safe.
Whether you are for or against the continued legality of mail order brides,
I think the agencies should be held accountable.
They need to screen their clientèle better
so that they know they are not providing a psychopath or serial killer with their next victim.
