- 37% of people over 12 living in the U.S. have at least tried marijuana.
- Slang names include Weed, Pot, Reefer, Green, Ganja, Grass and many more.
- Marijuana has been illegal in the U.S. since the 30's.
- Possession of a small amount of marijuana is a misdemeanor. However, possession of more than an ounce is a felony.
- Chronic marijuana use can lead to psychological habituation and dependence in some users, making it difficult to quit.
- It is impossible to overdose from marijuana alone.
 - Regular, prolonged marijuana smoking can cause health problems similar to smoking tobacco: coughing, decreased lung capacity, emphysema. It is controversial whether marijuana has carcinogenic effects.
- Some say marijuana smoking is up to 4 times worse than smoking tobacco due to the method of smoking: inhaling unfiltered smoke into the lungs deeply and holding it in for 5-20 seconds.
