There is so much poverty in my part of the world,I don’t know why?I cannot even afford three square meals a day,it makes me cry.Now my crops and animals are thirsty for water,my well has gone dry.I have been asked to persevere,oh yes I try.But the more I try,the more I cry.This is because noboby is willing to help,do you know why?This is simply because I am a poor man.
Poverty is prevalent in most of the developing countries in the world.It’s victims endlessly cry for aid and multiply each and everyday.The questions one needs to ask is how poverty originated,the measures we can take to totally wipe away poverty and how the poor man could be made happy.With these answered,a bold step would have been taken to eradicate poverty.
Let us now comment on some of the poverty stricken zones in the world.Africa is the major victim of poverty.Millions of people die each year as a result of poverty.This is simply because most people living in this the continent lack the basic necessities of life and are paying a heavy price for that with their lives.This problem remains unsolved yet the leaders of these countries claim to be protecting the lives of the people,what an irony!
It is an undisputed fact that leaders of some of these developing countries live luxuriously and have totally turned a deaf ear to the woes of the poor man.Instead of meeting the basic needs of the country first,they tend to spend huge sums of money on projects which are not of immediate benefit to their country.Just imagine millions of dollars being spent on rehabilitation alone whilst the people in that country lack clean drinking water as well as food and shelter.What then is the use of the leader to the nation?
The world is definitely aware of this problem.Loans are granted to some of these developing countries on condition.Why should this be the case if the so called developed countries are indeed willing to help.In my estimation I think it is as good as nothing because the leaders of the developing countries will receive these monies which they would use to meet their own needs rather than the needs of the country.So has the poor man any hope at all?
Will the poor man continue to wail in vain whilst his problem could be solved easily?A visit to a typical poverty stricken village made me shed some tears.I met a man who told me how he managed to survive and I was immediately stricken with pain in my heart.He made me aware that food wasn’t his priority because it was once in a bluemoon that he managed to eat three square meals a day and as for good clean drinking water he had never tasted his entire life.
As the breadwinner of the family he wakes up very early in the morning and heads to the farm.On a lucky day,he manages to get farming equipments from some of his friends who aren’t using their tools but the usual pattern was that he waits for his friends to finish using their tools before they could hand them over to him.Because he isn’t wealthy enough to afford pesticides,the birds would have fed on a quarter of his crops and it happens to him almost every day.
He is very much aware of government policies on subsidies but doesn’t even have money to purchase equipments at subsidised prices.He is aware he could be granted a loan but where is he going to get the money to pay back? This mans life is just so miserable so he just hopes that death will come and take him away one day in his sleep.Why should this be the issue?
You and I can help to solve this problem.Let us in our own small way donate to the less privileged in the society.Let us draw closer to them and show love towards them.Let us make them aware that they shouldn’t always be in tears because we will be there for them.With this,we would have taken a step towards the total eradication of poverty in our society.
After this has been done,let us constantly remind the government on how these people are suffering and why it is necessary to concentrate more on these people rather than on other things.Let us be very serious with this and demand an immediate response from the government.With constant pressure,they will be aware of the seriousness of the problem and will start thinking of effective ways and means to solve the problem.
The poor man definitely needs to be happy and it is up to us to make his desire a reality.As one people with a common belief,aim and destiny,let us together help the less fortunate in the society because they really need our assistance and we could have easily been in their shoes.Let us exhibit a high sense of affection towards these people and with that,we will gradually be building a better world!
