As a mother of two children, I can tell you that it is very important to our children's well being that we put uniforms in our public schools. I say this because of the fact that if our children aren't wearing the right style or the most popular brand-name items or those one hundred-plus dollar pair of sneakers, they can be harmed emotionally. This can harm our children socially, mentally, emotionally, and eventually academically. Now I know that that sounds ridiculous to you but it's not.
We as parents always think that our kids want this new outfit or those new kind of sneakers with the wheels...when in fact it is what they really need. They need that new t-shirt with the long sleeves, and they have to wear those gauchos. It's a necessity, in order for them to be accepted socially by their peers. If they're not, then there's the emotional and mental upset caused by those who are popular and have all they need to be within the social realm. But only because they are lucky enough to be able to afford it.
But for those of us who can't it's hell on our children. They're become tortured and tormented by their peers. And their grades begin to slip. They begin to start staying home from school more and more. They start to become socially introverted and distance themselves from others.
However, if they wore uniforms in public schools there would be less problems for all involved. Our kids would be less stressed and be much happier in the long run. Their grades would improve because that would be all they had to worry about. I have to say if they decided to put uniforms in my kids schools I wouldn't disagree with it one bit.
