Has anyone really thought about the extent of the
damage that could possibly be done to the children
of the United States, due to the dangers posed by the
excess lead content of the toys imported from China?
Children instinctively put things in their mouths
because they are curious and tactile.
Thinking about
it, the lead could also go through their pores while
they play with their toys, creating a double hazard.
Children should be tested immediately for signs of
lead in their blood, which could lead to brain damage
or even death. This is very serious, to me, the
ultimate terrorist attack.
Think about it, little ones damaged to the point of
mental retardation, who knows how long this has been
going on. Exporting poison toys to a country, to affect
generations, whether intentionally or unintentionally,
where were the inspectors in the Unites States?
Someone should be responsible, starting with Mattel,
who should pay for every blood test any child who has
been exposed, needs, no questions asked. If a child
becomes ill, Mattel should take care of the medical bills.
The emotional and mental stress will be enormous, not to
mention the cost involved.
The government should have done much better than this.
It probably would be a good idea, unless parents are going
to purchase lead testing instruments for the toys they buy,
to limit the purchase of painted toys for a while, until there
is a better sense of confidence in the market place.
Hopefully the extend of the damage to any child, will
be minimal, but it is imperative that the children be tested.
It is a problematic situation and children need to be protected,
so that they may grow up, and be as healthy as they can be, they
are the future of the country.
